Francois' Story

He started his apprenticeship as jeweller in January 1990 at Martin Smith Jewellers in South Africa. He did his trade test in September 1993 & passed with very high marks. Over the years he has worked with over 15 different qualified jewellers some of whom won ‘De Beers’ design competitions. He has been working as a jeweller for over 25 years.

He was taught in all handmade ( hand crafted) jewellery, eg: engagement rings, wedding rings, pendants, earrings, cuff links etc. He has also the experience in remodelling of old existing jewellery & repairs of all kinds of jewellery. He has worked in platinum, all types of gold & silver. He makes up the jewellery from the melting of the metal right up to the polished finished end product. He has worked in South Africa for 14.5 years and been operating in his own business in Australia for over 10 years.
